GVLT honors Penelope's leadership and legacy

200 people joined us at the Baxter for our annual Trail Mix event and going away party for our beloved Penelope. There was reflection and celebration of Penelope's long list of accomplishments during her ten years at the helm of GVLT. We awarded Penelope the Trail Partner of the Year award, memorialized with a glittery pink Oboz hiking boot trophy.  GVLT also announced that we will be honoring Penelope's leadership with a permanent mountain range view-finder installation on the top of Peets Hill, the epicenter of our trail system and the very best place to take in our 360 degree mountain views. Two of Penelope's crowning achievements are the final connections in the Main Street to the Mountains trail sytem, a vision that our founder Chris Boyd started with our first project, Peets Hill. Thank you Penelope!

high five Bridger ski foundation
thanks for grooming the trails

Cross country skiing is a great way to get outside and explore the trails during the winter. We're sending a big GVLT high five to our partners at the Bridger Ski Foundation for their tireless, often early morning, grooming of trails for classic and skate cross country skiing. Visit their website for grooming reports, maps, clinic information, and events. Don't forget to buy your pass which helps keep our winter trails looking great!

guest Column by Brendan Weiner

"We are lucky in the Gallatin Valley to have some of the finest farmers and ranchers anywhere, many of whom have been working the same lands for generations. We are also fortunate to have incredibly productive agricultural lands with nutrient-rich soils that are some of the best in the state. These working farmlands grow our food, provide scenic open space, give wildlife a place of refuge and are the foundation of our community and economy. These lands define who we are and should not be taken for granted."

trail mix helpers

Thank you to the volunteers who helped at our Trail Mix event! We have a number of volunteers that join us each year and we were grateful to have extra support from members of the 2020 Leadership Bozeman class. Thank you volunteers for greeting our guests with a warm smile.

This month we're saying thanks to our friends at Evergoods, a small, Bozeman-based crossover backpack company. Since their inception just a few years ago, owners Jack and Kevin have pledged 1% of their gross revenue to GVLT. They've literally built it into their business model.  Thank you Evergoods for your commitment to GVLT and the quality of life we help protect!
